unfurl

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 June 2026

unfurl is a conversation-card app published by Michelle Cao ("we", "us", "I"). This policy explains what information the app handles, how it's handled, and the choices you have. unfurl is built so that the things you tell it about the people in your room stay on your device.

The short version: The names, pronouns and cards you enter or save never leave your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. We have no server that stores them. We do not sell personal information. You can erase everything from Settings at any time.

1. Information stored on your device only

To personalize cards and remember your preferences, unfurl stores the following locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to us or any third party:

You can delete all of this at any time in Settings, or by removing the app.

2. Information processed when you make a purchase

unfurl offers one-time deck unlocks and an auto-renewing subscription. Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play and by our purchase provider, RevenueCat, Inc. We never see or store your card details or full payment information.

To deliver and restore purchases, the following may be processed:

This is used only to give you access to what you bought and to let you restore purchases. See RevenueCat's privacy policy, Apple's privacy policy, and Google's privacy policy.

3. Anonymous usage analytics

We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data to understand how features are used and to improve the app, for example which decks are opened or how long a card is viewed. This data is not linked to your identity and does not include the names, pronouns or card content you enter. It cannot be used to identify you.

4. What we do not do

5. Sharing a card

When you share a card as an image, names are removed by default so you don't broadcast who you were playing with. The image is created on your device and shared through your device's own share sheet to the app you choose. We are not involved in that transfer.

6. Children

unfurl is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). Some decks contain reflective questions intended for adults and are gated using the platform age-range signal. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your rights

Because your personal content is stored only on your device, you are in direct control of it. You can view, change or delete it in Settings at any time. Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, and depending on where you live under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information. Since we don't hold your personal content on a server, the fastest way to exercise these rights is directly in the app. For anything else, contact us using the details below.

8. Data retention

On-device data stays until you delete it or remove the app. Purchase records are retained by the app stores and RevenueCat according to their own policies and applicable law.

9. International users

The app is operated from Australia. Purchase and analytics providers may process limited data in other countries under their own safeguards. Your personal content remains on your device wherever you are.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and post the new version at this address. Material changes will be reflected in the app listing.
